Paramedical Micropigmentation
What Is Scar Camouflage?
Scar camouflage in Dubai is a paramedical tattoo that places skin-tone pigment into a scar so it blends better with the surrounding skin. It works on scars that are lighter than your skin — pale, white or silvery — and on scars that are flat and fully healed. The goal is “less noticeable”, not “gone”: the texture of the scar stays, but the colour contrast is reduced.
Typical scars we see are from surgery (C-section, breast surgery, facelift, hair transplant), from injuries and from old acne, as long as they are flat. Scars that are raised, red, purple or still changing are not ready — the pigment would not behave predictably, and tattooing could irritate the scar.
Because every scar holds pigment differently, we always start with a patch test: a small area of the scar is pigmented, left to heal, and then we look at the result together. Only then do we treat the whole scar.
Not every scar needs camouflage, and not every scar can be camouflaged. In the consultation we will tell you honestly if a scar is not a good candidate — for example, if it is darker than your skin, raised, or still maturing.
For stretch marks, which are a specific kind of scar, see stretch mark camouflage. For pale patches from vitiligo, see vitiligo camouflage.
Why Choose Scar Camouflage
Key Benefits
Reduces the appearance of scars, helping you feel more confident in your skin and freeing you from the need to cover up with clothing or makeup.
Custom-matched pigments blend seamlessly with your natural skin tone. The result is subtle and natural — not a tattooed look but a skin-level blend.
Results typically last 2-3 years before a touch-up is needed. Unlike makeup, the camouflage stays in place through swimming, sweating, and daily activities.
Uses medical-grade pigments and sterile equipment. A patch test is performed before the procedure to ensure the correct shade match and skin compatibility.
Is It Right for You?
Which Scars Can Be Camouflaged
The scar matters more than the person. These are the general rules we work with.
May be suitable
- ✓ Flat scars, level with the skin
- ✓ Scars lighter than your skin — white, pale or silvery
- ✓ Mature scars, usually at least about a year old
- ✓ Surgical scars: C-section, breast, facelift, transplant
- ✓ Healed injury scars
- ✓ You accept a gradual, “softer” result
Not suitable
- ! Raised, keloid or hypertrophic scars
- ! Red, pink or purple scars that are still maturing
- ! Scars darker than your skin
- ! Pitted (ice-pick) acne scars — pigment does not change depth
- ! Open wounds, infection or very thin, fragile skin
- ! Pregnancy or breastfeeding
Your Appointment
Scar Camouflage Step by Step
Sessions are booked as 1-hour slots.
We look at the scar in daylight: colour, texture, age and the skin around it.
A small part of the scar is pigmented with the mixed skin tone.
After the patch heals (several weeks), we check how the scar held the colour.
Pigment is adjusted to match your skin, which can change with the seasons.
The scar is pigmented in light layers; we work slightly into the edges to blend.
After healing, another session evens out the colour if needed.

Healing Day by Day
Scar Camouflage Healing
The area is red and the pigment looks darker or pinker than your skin. This is normal.
Light flaking or a thin crust. Keep it dry and do not pick.
The colour settles; it often looks lighter before it blends.
Healed result; we decide on the next session.
Durability
How Long Does Scar Camouflage Last?
Skin-tone pigment usually lasts several years, softening gradually. Scar tissue can hold colour less evenly than normal skin, so more than one session is common.
Sun changes both your skin and the pigment. If your skin tans and the camouflaged scar does not, the contrast comes back — SPF on the area is part of the result.
Top-up sessions start from AED 525, depending on the size.
Men ask about scar camouflage as often as women — for facial scars, beard gaps after an injury, or scars on the scalp. For scalp scars from a hair transplant, the right technique is often scalp micropigmentation, which imitates hair follicles instead of skin tone.
Realistic Results
What Scar Camouflage Can Do
On a suitable scar — flat, mature and lighter than your skin — camouflage reduces the colour difference, so the scar draws less attention at a normal distance. Many clients say they stop thinking about it, which is the real goal.
It does not change the shape or texture of the scar, and it cannot make a raised or indented scar flat. If your scar is still red, raised or itchy, it is not ready; your doctor may suggest treatments to mature it first, and camouflage can come later.
Skin colour is never a single tone. We mix pigment in daylight and often use more than one shade, because the skin around a scar can be lighter on one side and warmer on the other. Matching is easier when your skin is not freshly tanned.
